The Saint Al’s Old Timers are a group of men, age 35 and older, who play softball in the Catholic Old Timers League (COT). Most of the Catholic churches on the west side of Cincinnati have a team in this league. This is a social league, so free substitution of players is allowed. This allows men who can’t run to participate by permitting pinch runners for the batter. The Old Timers play 18 games a year and after each game there are refreshments for the teams and their families. There are also a few get-togethers each year just for the Saint Al’s players and their families. Each spring there is a social for men interested in playing, and their spouses.
